Tier2: TIFR Network Status
International connectivity to WLCCG LHCONE network with 2x8 Gbps links via NKN.
TIFR in Mumbai hosts T2_IN_TIFR, India's sole Tier-2 centre for the CMS experiment at the LHC, CERN, Geneva. It stands as one of only four fully operational CMS-T2 centres in the Asian region. These T2 centres play a pivotal role in data processing, storage for the entire experiment, and hosting both simulated and real collision data. This data is globally accessible via the GRID computing facilities under WLCG. Beyond its primary functions, the T2 centre is instrumental in end-user analyses and offers vital support to scientists within its geographical domain. Currently, T2_IN_TIFR boasts 14,000 job slots (CPU threads). In the context of High Energy Physics benchmarks, this translates to a CPU power equivalent of 1,400,000 HS06. The combined storage capacity of its 54 Dcache Disk Nodes exceeds 11 PetaBytes. Additionally, a Tier-2 as part of WLCG is utilized by physicists for in-depth analysis of CMS data from around the world.
