T2_IN_TIFR is the only Tier-2 centre in India for CMS experiment at the LHC, (CERN, Geneva) located at TIFR, Mumbai.
It is one of the 4 fully functioning CMS-T2s in the Asian region.
T2 centres are used for Monte Carlo event generation for the whole experiment as well as for hosting simulated and real collision data in various streams datasets are accessed from all parts of the world using the GRID facility.
The T2-centre serves the end-user analyses crucially and it is also provides support for scientists of the concerned geographical region.
At present T2_IN_TIFR offers a total of 1024 job slots (cpu cores). Total average of runs executed on a machine ( Special Performance Evaluation for HEP code ) i.e HEP-SPEC06 is 7218.12
and Total Storage capacity of 28 DPM Disk Nodes is aggregated to more than 1PB (1020 TB). The TIFR GRID centre provides storage space for almost 50 CMS collaborators from all over India.
A Tier-3 facility is used by physicists for analysing CMS data.
The site has commissioned links to all the T1-centres of CMS and also some of the CMS T2-centres.
Tier2: TIFR Network Status
Dedicated P2P link to LHCONE, upgraded to 4 G guaranteed with best effort up to 10 G
Two 2.5 Gigabit links – one to Europe and other to Singapore through TEIN4
Internal network upgraded with new chassis switch with total switching throughput of 3.5 Tbps and new storage nodes upgraded with 10 G link.
T2-IN-TIFR is a part of LHCONE via CERNLite from it’s inception.
